The TCHS Peer Leadership Team (formerly known as PRIDE) will begin taking applications on Monday, April 14th. Our Peer Leader team is a group of committed students who support other students, promote healthy lifestyles, and work to make positive changes at our school. If you are interested in applying, please see Mrs. Bishop or Ms. Holsomback to pick up an application.
SIGMA ALPHA THETA members: There will be a meeting on Tuesday, April 15 right after school in Mrs. Livingston's room. We will be voting on new members and discussing the Mother-Daughter Banquet. Please make plans to attend!
Freshmen: It’s the final quarter of the 2013- 2014 academic school year and you have been challenged to
“Race to the Finish Line”, successfully. The Career Prep class with the least absences, tardies, and discipline referrals and that has completed the most classwork and homework wins an additional free period. The race is broken up into 4 10-day challenges, each one starting with a clean slate. The first challenge ends today. See Ms. Lawson, TCHS promotion coach, for more information.
Any student interested in CHOM’s teen leadership program may pick up an application from Ms. Hollingsworth in the counseling suite. Applicants must be at least 14 years old and be willing to volunteer at least eight hours a week and two weekend shifts a month.
Junior girls interested in applying to be an Alabama A. & M. Alumni Debutante during their senior year, 2014-2015, should see Mrs. Bishop, school sponsor, in Room 2303 for an application. The deadline to return applications is Thursday, April 17, 2014.
The Drama Department is having a spirit night fundraiser at Sweet CeCe's Frozen Yogurt on Thursday, April 17 from 4-9 pm. Sweet CeCe's is located on University Blvd. downtown next to the Children's Hands On Museum.
Bring your friends and appetite to Sweet CeCe's on Thursday, April 17 and support your drama department.
Juniors: You will take the ACT plus writing during the school day on April 23rd. Please plan to attend school that day.
AP Students: Please come by Ms. Thompson’s office in the counseling suite to pick up your AP Exam Fee Sheets.
Boys basketball tryouts will be Tuesday April 22nd at 3:15 in the gym. You must sign up with Coach Weeks by Friday April 18 and you must have an updated physical with you in order to try out on Tuesday April 22nd.
TCHS Volleyball try-outs will be Monday, April 28th from 4-6 pm in the gym. Anyone who is interested in trying out must have an up to date physical before they will be allowed to participate. Also those interested in trying out must pick up a packet from Coach Livingston in room 1311.
The yearbook staff has a few yearbooks left over from last year (2013). If you'd like one, brand new out of the box, they are $10. See Mrs. Ball room 1503.
- Seniors: If you are awarded any scholarships, please let Mrs. Fox know about them. Bring a copy of your award letter or email it to Mrs. Fox by Friday, April 18th, in order to be included in the scholarship program.
- Shelton State will be holding Financial Aid workshops for senior students and their parents. Shelton State scholarship application assistance will also be available at these workshops. Students can visit anytime between
3-5 pm on Wednesday, April 16th. Sessions will be held in the Compass testing room 1826. Be sure to take your tax information with you!
Shelton State is giving the COMPASS test to high school students after school at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28. Students must schedule an appointment to test with the Shelton State Counseling Center and have a student number to use.
The Pat Faucett scholarship is now available for any senior planning to attend The University of Alabama. You must have financial need, school and community activities, and volunteer or work experience. See Mrs. Fox for an application. The deadline to apply is tomorrow, Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

The application for the Charlie Sealey scholarship is now available. This is for a TCHS senior who has a minimum 2.8 GPA, ACT minimum of 20, financial need, school/community activities, and work experience. See Mrs. Fox for an application. This is a $250 scholarship. Applications are due by April 17, 2014.
