  • Hard work spotlights the character of people. Some turn up their sleeves. Some turn up their noses, and some don’t turn up at all. Which will you choose to be today?

  • Gamer’s Night is tonight in the TCHS library from 6-9pm. No tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from Mrs. Evans room 1509, Ms. Davis room 2605 or Mrs. Black in the library during school today.

 

  • The Peer Leaders and CATS-TV are hosting the Cutie Walk Friday February 26. We need guys and male teachers to sign up and we will get you styled for the most fun competition this year! Prizes will be awarded to our top 5 contestants! Sign up outside of Mrs. Evans's room 1509, in the lunchroom, or outside the CATS-TV room door. Deadline to sign-up is Tuesday, February 20th.

 

  • Make plans to attend the first Prom Dresses Extravaganza Fashion Show Friday February 27 in the gym. Tickets are $5 and include the opportunity to win a FREE prom dress! Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. Don't miss it! See Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Troutman, or Mrs. Workman for tickets.

 

  • The peer leaders are sponsoring an in-school talent show on March 27th. Be listening for more details.

 

  • Seniors: Shelton State Community College's scholarship application is now online. The deadline to apply is March 2, 2015, at 6:00 p.m.

 

  • Any student who would like to have access to ACT's Online Study Prep for free, see Mrs. Fox for a user name and password.

     
  • Credit Recovery applications are available for Spring 2015. Today is the deadline to turn in your application and pay the fee. Please pay Mrs. Fox, 12th grade counselor. Sign up NOW; class starts on February 2.

 

  • There will be a Blood Drive Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 8am-3pm sponsored by the HOSA- Future Health Professionals club. The drive will take place in the Health Science Lab Room #1212 across from the cafeteria. All donors must be at least 16 years old with a parental consent form signed. If you are at least 17 years old, you do not have to have a parental consent form. All donors must have some type of photo identification. You will receive a hot dog, snacks, and a t-shirt if you donate.  Sign-up will be Tuesday February 10th and Wednesday February 11th in the lunchroom. See Mrs. Workman room 1206 for more information.

 

  • Attention ladies who signed up to model in the Prom Fashion show: You must be fitted for your dress during 2nd, 3rd, or 5th periods this week. See Mrs. Evans to get a rehearsal schedule and guidelines to participate. The first rehearsal will be this Monday, February 2nd from 3:15- 4:45.

     
  • Seniors: If you need help completing your Financial Aid Application (FAFSA) or need help with your Shelton State scholarship application, please plan to attend one of their workshops. Dates on Martin campus(main one): February 4, February 18, February 25, March 4, March 11, April 1, April 15. There are several required documents needed. See the information on the door of the counseling suite.

     
  • Shelton State is hosting a Spring Preview Day for prospective students on Saturday, February 21, 2015. If you are interested in attending, you must register online at www.sheltonstate.edu/previewday. 

     
  • Auburn University's Engineering Day will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015.  Register at http://www.auburn.edu/eday

     
  • The Tuscaloosa Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is awarding one high school student in the area a $1,000 scholarship to the school of his or her choice. The applicant must be a senior who shows academic promise, has a desire to perform community service, and demonstrates some economic need. See Mrs. Fox for an application. Today is the deadline to apply.

     
  • Auburn University's academic scholarship application deadline is February 15, 2015.

     
  • The 2015 Wells Fargo Bank Angie Reece Scholarship is now available for TCHS seniors only. This is a $500 scholarship to the school of your choice. See Mrs. Fox for an application. Deadline to apply is February 24, 2015.

     
  • Any senior student planning to attend Alabama State University may like to apply for the Tuscaloosa Alumni Chapter-Alabama State University Scholarship. It recognizes a high school senior in Tuscaloosa County who has achieved academic excellence and who plans to attend ASU in the Fall of 2015. The scholarship amount is $1,000. See Mrs. Fox, 12th grade counselor, for an application. Deadline to apply is February 27, 2015

     
  • The DCH Foundation is pleased to announce it 2015 scholarships program. Any senior student who is interested in a career in healthcare may apply. Applications can be downloaded at www.thedchfoundation.org or see Mrs. Fox for an application. Deadline to apply is March 12, 2015, at 4:00 p.m.

     
  • The State of Alabama's College Counts Scholarship is now available. This is open to seniors who will be college freshmen in the fall of 2015 who are US citizens, Alabama residents, and demonstrate financial need. Must enroll in an Alabama eligible educational institution, have a minimum GPA of 2.75, and have an ACT score of 26 or below. For more information and to apply, visit www.CollegeCountsAlabama.com. The deadline to apply is March 13, 2015, at 11:59 p.m.

     
  • Tuscaloosa Teachers Credit Union is awarding two (2) $2,500 scholarships to graduating seniors this spring. The student or a member of his immediate family must be a member in good standing of the credit union to be eligible. Applications are available from Mrs. Fox, 12th grade counselor, at any TTCU location, or online at www.ttcuweb.com. No minimum GPA or ACT/SAT is required, however, academic performance, leadership, community service, and financial need will be considered. Applications are due to TTCU no later than March 13, 2015.

     
  • Mercedes-Benz is offering a scholarship to a graduating Alabama high school senior living in Tuscaloosa or Jefferson County who is planning to enroll full-time at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school by fall 2015. Dependents of Mercedes employees are eligible, as well. Applications are available online at www.mbusi.com. Application deadline is March 15, 2015.

     
  • The Eta Xi Omega Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority sponsors a scholarship competition for graduating senior girls. This year, the Chapter will select two area female seniors at the recipients of $1,500 scholarship. See Mrs. Fox for information and an application. Deadline to apply is March 20, 2015.

     
  • Riverview Orthodontics in Tuscaloosa is offering a scholarship in the amount of $500 to a senior student who is a current or previous patient of Dr. Mike Upton. Applications may be found online at www.rivervieworthodontics.com, picked up at the doctor's office, or obtained from Mrs. Fox, 12th grade counselor. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2015.

     
  • Come out tonight to Senior night with our Wildcat basketball teams! They take on Holt here at TCHS. JV boys start at 4:30; varsity girls at 6:00; and varsity boys at 7:30. Go Wildcats!
